Artist Residencies

Making the work of talented local artists accessible for everyone, empowering people to create fine art

Artist residencies at Photosynthesis provide opportunities for prominent or emerging photographers to tell their stories directly in a video interview and through exhibiting a collection of their work.

Over the duration of the residency, artists have free access to the studio to build a body of work.

At the opening of the exhibition(s) and during weekly in-studio days, the artist-in-residence engages directly with the broad spectrum of people who are passionate about the creation, enjoyment, and celebration of visual art.

The artist’s innovative perspectives and unique skills uplift local creatives through direct participation in resident-led workshops.

Stuart Clook

Stuart Clook is the third artist-in-residence at Photosynthesis. He is practicing unique ways to take chromatic images using historic techniques, with direct participation of emerging young artists. Stuart is also hosting workshops using novel development and printing techniques in his Teddington studio.

April 2024 - June 2024

Janneth Gil

Janneth Gil, Photosynthesis’ second artist-in-residence, built a body of work entitled Invisible explores wellness through photography, transforming medical experiences into moments for healing and acceptance of our imperfect bodies.

Jamie Price is Photosynthesis’ first artist-in-residence. His exhibit consists of a collection of photographs from Jamie’s personal archives taken during adventures with friends, holidays with family and exploration of local landscape both urban and natural.

Public programming led by the resident artist (workshops / talks / events) allow for opportunities to expose and develop visual narratives and techniques to a broad audience of enthusiastic and supportive people.
