Collected Light
An open call for photography:
all art made with light.
Submissions close at Midnight 1 November 2026
Collected Light is a regular group show which started in February 2026 as the “Open 2026” exhibition of over 80 artists and more than 180 pieces.
This is a cross-section of the state-of-our-arts: Artists of all ages and experience levels can enter up to three still works made with light, including photographs, prints, photo books and zines.
A panel will choose the works after entries close to be shown in a group show at Photosynthesis in Ōtautahi Christchurch.
KEY DATES
1 November 2026 · Entries close at 11:59 pm NZDT.
After closing · A panel reviews entries. Selection results date to be announced.
From 28 November · Installation begins.
4 December · Opening night. Time to be announced.
What to send
Enter between one to three works. For each one, give us a title, a short description, an image and your display plan. We can’t include every entry in the show, but we hope to include at least one submission per artists.
Size and display
There’s no size limit. Give us the finished outside height and width in millimetres, including any frame or mount. Add the depth if it matters. If you haven’t printed the work yet, enter the size you plan to make. Please check your measurements: later changes need our approval so we can plan the gallery layout.
Sales
You can offer your work for sale with a koha commission of 20% to Photosynthesis of any sale.

We’ll run print workshops throughout November. Dates and booking details will follow.
