Kia ora e te whānau, my name is Ellen(she/they), and I’m a Writer at Photosynthesis. My main passion in life is creation in all of its forms. From photography to music to writing - I’m all about it. That’s why I’m so excited to be sharing Photosynthesis ins and outs on this blog so you can get a closer look into what we do and who we are. 

Many exciting events are happening at Photosynthesis, like the opening of Stuart Clook's, current artist in residence, exhibition on the 2nd of April. I’ll be sharing all about our monthly book club and open studio sessions too. I find that it’s less daunting to attend events when I know what to expect, so if you’re hesitant to come along, hopefully, this space makes it a little easier. 

I’ve been working at Photosynthesis since November 2023, and I’ve never been a part of a community that’s felt so safe and comfortable. Everyone is encouraging and accepting of different skill levels and backgrounds. The barriers and boxes society puts on humans fade away at Photosynthesis, and you are free to explore your creativity. 

I’ll be sharing the thoughts and experiences that our community has about art, the creating process, and how they engage as part of our community at Photosynthesis. It may be a book they've loved, a new skill they learnt, or their appreciation of art. Whatever it may be, I will tell it in a unifying way through my lens. 

I can't wait to start this next chapter and show you all the amazing things that are happening in the Photosynthesis community!
